(I'll admit that I'm not very sympathetic towards the Doctor, so I was like, 'haha, owned!' Given that he's asserted himself as the biggest threat in the universe, numerous times... I think that he, erm, kinda walked straight into that one.)
I'd been pretty sure he was already in the box, in a timey wimey sort of way, so that version of Doctor/box OTP was nicely surprising to me. But, seriously - I know writing oneself into corners, and that is a CORNER.
I did, however, like the Bad Guy UN. It's about damn time they saved the universe - now they can work on heath care, and tax cuts...
I probably would have had the happy OWNED reaction if it was Ten, because dear god did that incarnation need to be smacked without a safe word for about a season straight, but I rather like this one.

That's what I thought. I was hoping that the episode would end up with two Doctors, and one of them would be eeeeevil in a well-intentioned extremist sort of way, and the Doctor would have to fight his sinister copy while confronting the fact that he can actually be a bit of a shit. (Although, to be fair, he's had to confront his nastier side plenty of times before, so it wouldn't really be anything new. And he'd probably just wallow in manpain anyway.)
I also liked the The Evil League of Evil. Working together made them look competent.

Oh thank god I thought I was the only one who felt that way. While I found David Tennant quite endearing, I'd still be like, 'TAKE THAT, SPACE JESUS.' (Which is probably why Midnight was my favorite episode, come to think of it. It was completely unforgiving.)
Midnight was one of my favorites, too - haha, without your companion to interact with people for you, you FAIL! I like David Tennant just fine, but that Doctor...ugh. From his first episode, when he destroyed Harriot Jones for having the temerity to DO THE JOB SHE WAS ELECTED TO DO RATHER THAN COWTOW TO HIM, WHILE BEING FLAGRANTLY FEMALE AND MIDDLE AGED AND

Yeah, never liked him. He reminded me of the various uber-popular tossers I knew in my goth days, all pay attention to me! and I loves you so much! at least until you disagree with me about anything then I hate you forever! but no matter what I'm awesome! I only enjoyed him with Donna, because she could actually smack him down from time to time, when he got whimsically genocidal and such.
Aaaugh, yeah, he really, really had an irritating sense of entitlement. He'd turn up out of nowhere, tell people what to do, then expect them to obey because he thought he knew best; it was paternalistic smugness at its finest. Granted, in the right hands, it made him a flawed, interesting character... But a lot of the time, the narrative just vindicated his self-righteousness and set opposing characters up as incompetent strawmen, which was... blah.
Now I have a twisted desire to find fic where he screws things up and gets his ass kicked in interesting ways.
